Servo Capping Machine Selection Guide

I. Prepare Your Product Information First (Step 1 for Selection, to Send to Manufacturer for Testing)

Information to provide:

1. Cap type: Standard threaded cap / tamper-evident ring cap / pump cap, flip-top cap, spray cap / CRC child-resistant cap / dropper cap.

(Pump caps and tamper-evident caps are highly torque-sensitive, servo type is mandatory)

2. Cap diameter, neck thread specification, cap material (PP / PET / acrylic / soft rubber)

3. Bottle type: Round bottle / square bottle / flat bottle / special-shaped bottle, bottle diameter, bottle height, material.

(Glass fragile bottles must be highlighted)

4. Required torque range: For reference, pump caps generally 1–3N·m; tamper-evident caps 3–8N·m; large drum caps 8–18N·m

5. Product material: Ordinary aqueous liquid, sauce, volatile, corrosive content.

(Determines contact material: 304 / 316L stainless steel)

Reminder: Aluminium ROPP crimping, crown capping and plug pressing do NOT apply to servo capping machines.

1. Inline Intermittent Single-Head Servo Capping Machine | First choice for medium & low output

Speed: 40–70 bottles per minute

Suitable for standalone use, matched with small filling machines, frequent changeovers for multiple SKUs, cosmetic samples, health supplements, sauces; moderate budget.

Bottles stop at capping station for tightening.

2. Dual-Head Servo Capping Machine | Medium output

Speed: 70–120 bottles per minute

Suitable for stable mass production of single main product, higher output demand without needing tracking type.

3. Servo Tracking (Flying) Capping Machine | High-speed continuous line

Bottles keep moving; capping heads travel synchronously with bottles for continuous capping without stopping.

Speed: Over 80 bottles per minute

Suitable for high-volume cosmetic and condiment full filling lines.

Drawback: Higher cost and more complex commissioning.

4. Servo Vacuum Capping Machine | For sauce jars, cans and jam

Equipped with vacuum pumping + servo torque-controlled capping to prevent bulging jars and extend shelf life, mostly for glass jars.

Output Tip: Rated speed of the capper should be slightly higher than the filler, so the capper will not become the bottleneck of the whole line.

III. Verify Core Configuration (Key to Avoid Traps, Distinguish Real Servo from Fake)

⚠️ Common trick in the market: Only the conveyor uses servo, while capping heads still adopt friction roller capping, falsely marketed as servo capping machines.

1. Capping head must be equipped with torque sensor (closed-loop torque feedback)

Supports torque setting on touchscreen, real-time torque display, torque data storage and NG alarm for abnormal torque.

Recommended precision: ±0.3~±0.5N·m; within ±0.3N·m for pump caps and premium packaging.

2. Electrical components

PLC, servo drives and HMI: Top brands deliver better stability (Siemens, Delta, Panasonic etc.).

Bus communication is preferred for export models for easy MES connection.

3. Contact material

Food & daily chemical standard: 304 stainless steel.

Strong acid & alkali, pharmaceutical clean workshop: Upgrade to 316L.

Silicone capping jaws are wear-resistant and prevent scratches on cap coating.

4. Essential safety functions (must-have)

No-cap no-capping, reversed cap rejection, bottle jam overload alarm, torque NG alarm, no-bottle stop.

Optional: CCD cap absence inspection and NG rejection system.

5. Changeover: Quick-change tooling and recipe storage (one-click recall to cut debugging time, ideal for OEM factories)

IV. Confirm Auxiliary Requirements & Workshop Conditions

1. Standalone machine or integrated with existing filling, labelling and coding lines? Confirm conveyor height, width and bottle in/out direction.

2. Air supply: Stable air source 0.4–0.6MPa; Power supply: 220V / 380V

3. Cleanliness class: Ordinary workshop / GMP pharmaceutical clean workshop (requires waterproof, dustproof and easy-to-clean structure)

4. Future expandability: Additional capping heads, inspection units or MES access for torque traceability later.

V. Budget, Machine Testing & Supplier Evaluation (Final Step of Procurement)

1. Sample testing is mandatory! Check three points:

① Torque stability and clean break of tamper ring

② No broken pump heads and no cap scratches

③ Defect rate after continuous running

2. Comparison is more than price: Check spare part cost and part compatibility

3. After-sales support: Remote troubleshooting, on-site service lead time, warranty period and local technical support.

For export orders, confirm English HMI, export voltage, packing and customs documents.
