Liquid Filling Machine Calibration for Incorrect Fill Volume - Simple Operation Steps

Applicable: Flowmeter-type / Piston-type automatic liquid filling machines, for inaccurate filling caused by wrong filling parameters.

Pre-notice:

Make sure there are no air bubbles or dripping in the pipeline and the machine is in normal production status. Prepare clean receiving containers and a high-precision electronic scale.

Step 1: Clear incorrect parameters and restore basic settings

Go to the filling parameter page on the PLC touchscreen. Delete the previously wrong filling value, enter the target filling volume (e.g. target 500ml), then save the parameters. Run 2–3 empty filling cycles to remove air bubbles from the pipeline.

Step 2: Take samples and weigh to obtain actual filling volume

Run 3–5 consecutive filling cycles. Skip the first bottle and take the stable subsequent samples. Weigh each bottle one by one and record the actual filling weight.

Step 3: Calculate deviation and adjust touchscreen parameters

Formula: Correction factor = Set value ÷ Average measured value

New set parameter = Original set value × Correction factor

Example: Target 500ml, set 500ml on screen, average measured volume is 492ml

Correction factor = 500 ÷ 492 ≈ 1.016

Adjust the screen parameter to 500 × 1.016 = 508ml

Step 4: Re-test filling for verification

After adjusting parameters, run 5 consecutive filling cycles and weigh samples.

Acceptance criteria: Calibration is completed when all samples fall within the tolerance specified in the contract.

If deviation remains large, check sealing rings, valve dripping, material viscosity or temperature changes. Do not repeatedly adjust parameters to cover mechanical faults.

Step 5: Save parameters and complete first article record

Once parameters are verified qualified, save the recipe number, fill in the first article inspection record, then start formal production.
